The Founding Period

Preserve the history. Build what comes next.

Welpdom 1.1 establishes your permanent Passport and the progress you will carry into the world. Welpdom 1.2 turns the history of Welp Here We Are into Lost Records to recover, Collections to preserve and communities to build, with its first public release planned for early 2027.

Your Passport travels with you

Your Passport is your permanent Welpdom identity. Your name, verified membership, Renown, Credits, achievements and contribution history remain with your account as the world grows.

Welp history becomes discoverable

Reactions, reviews, Patreon exclusives, Vault recordings and original Welp content can become Lost Records recovered through play.

Renown records your legacy

Renown is permanent, cannot be spent or purchased, and comes from verified Welp participation. Higher Renown levels will unlock titles, advanced opportunities, civic privileges and access to more of the world’s technology tree.

Building Credits shape what comes next

Building Credits are spendable. They will support homes, construction, upgrades and settlement projects—and can be earned repeatedly rather than simply collected once.

Work creates future Credits

When the interactive world opens, gathering, building, exploration, research, production and other useful settlement assignments are planned to become the primary ways to earn more.

Participation cannot be replaced

Supporting tiers receive a modest stipend, but major civic projects will still require residents, resources and genuine community participation.

How Renown is earned

Renown records verified participation in Welp Here We Are. It is permanent, cannot be spent and is awarded automatically when one of the activities below is confirmed.

+25

Renown

Once per verified year

A retention milestone based on verified membership history, including free Welp members.

How the record stays fair

  • Renown is permanent and cannot be spent or transferred.
  • Every award must point to a verified source event with a unique external identifier.
  • Reprocessing an import cannot award the same event twice.
  • Corrections use visible reversal entries; ledger history is never silently rewritten.
  • Patreon tier changes do not multiply past or future Renown.

The central Welpdom 1.2 journey

Explore. Recover. Preserve. Build.

Lost Records connect the illustrated world directly to the reactions, artists, shows and community history behind Welp Here We Are.

01

Explore

Undertake activities and expeditions.

02

Recover

Find a Record connected to Welp content.

03

Carry

Keep it in your Field Kit or campsite storage.

04

Archive

Deposit it for the wider Welpdom.

05

Build

Develop Archives and themed community institutions.

Personal discovery

A recovered Record belongs to the finder until it is deposited. Carrying capacity and storage make the choice to preserve it meaningful.

Shared Collections

Once archived, a Record becomes part of the community’s shared history. Collections can eventually qualify communities for artist-, show- or medium-focused buildings, groups and events.

Your first Building Credits

Founding Credits are not a separate currency. They are the first Building Credits placed in your Passport during the Founding Period. They carry forward at full value when the interactive world opens.

Granted once

Founding Allocation

Every verified citizen begins with Credits so nobody enters the world empty-handed. The amount is based on the membership level verified when the allocation is granted.

Granted each verified month

Monthly Stipend

A modest monthly amount recognizes continued support. Higher tiers receive slightly more, but work and participation—not tier alone—will drive progress once the world opens.

Before the world opensKeep them, or earn limited extras through announced founding challenges.

When the world opensSpend them on residences, construction, upgrades and settlement projects.

They do not affect RenownRenown records your standing and cannot be spent. Credits are resources you choose how to use.

Allocations are granted once. Stipends require verified membership for that month and appear in the Credit Ledger. Historical membership earns Renown and achievements rather than retroactive monthly Credits. Building Credits are in-world resources: they have no cash value and cannot be sold or transferred between citizens.

How to earn more

Credits come from contribution—not from Renown.

During Welpdom 1.1

The Founding Period

Citizens receive their one-time allocation and verified monthly stipend. Selected one-time founding achievements and announced community challenges will offer limited opportunities to earn extra Credits before the map opens.

Planned for Welpdom 1.2

Work inside the world

Choose timed assignments such as gathering, construction, exploration, research or production. Completed work earns Credits, resources, profession experience or project progress depending on the assignment.

Routine Welp participation earns Renown. Work performed inside the Welpdom earns Building Credits. Important firsts and major accomplishments may also unlock achievements.

Why build the Welpdom?

A campsite becomes a settlement. A settlement can become a metropolis.

Every citizen begins with a campsite in Welp Central. Residents will contribute resources, labour and Credits to shared projects. As population and participation grow, the community can qualify to advance through settlement, village, town, city and metropolis stages.

Build useful places

Workshops create jobs. Libraries organize Welp history. Theatres host screenings. Town Halls support proposals and civic decisions.

Unlock new possibilities

New settlement levels open buildings, professions, assignments, technology and more ambitious community projects.

Explore beyond home

Roads, bridges, ports and expeditions can reveal new territory and eventually connect communities across the larger map.

Leave a visible mark

Founders and contributors remain recorded in the history of the homes, landmarks and institutions they helped create.

Buildings are intended to provide real functions—not merely decorate the map. Final requirements, production rates and unlocks will be published only after the private Founding Grounds prototype has been tested.
